Naval and air units from the Philippines, United States and Australia completed the 19th Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity in the West Philippine Sea, the Armed Forces of the Philippines announced Wednesday.
The activity ran from August 19 to 25 and brought together units from the AFP, United States Pacific Command and Australian Defence Force.
What the exercise covered
According to the AFP, participating forces conducted communications exercises, maritime-domain awareness activities, anti-submarine warfare, replenishment at sea, division tactics and officer-of-the-watch maneuvers, a photo exercise and fly-by operations.
Philippine assets included BRP Diego Silang, an AW-109 naval helicopter, FA-50 aircraft, a C-208B surveillance aircraft and a W-3A Sokol search-and-rescue helicopter, alongside the Philippine Coast Guard's BRP Teresa Magbanua. The United States deployed USS Santa Barbara and a P-8A Poseidon, while Australia deployed HMAS Supply, an MH-60R helicopter and another P-8A.
