What happened
The Senate sitting as an impeachment court partially granted prosecution requests for financial and tax records involving Vice President Sara Duterte, her husband Manases Carpio and selected entities on July 20.
Presiding officer Francis Escudero said the approved requests met the requirements of relevance and definiteness. The court authorized subpoenas covering identified peso-denominated bank accounts, Bureau of Internal Revenue records and Anti-Money Laundering Council material connected to Article II’s unexplained-wealth allegations.

The prosecution described the order as a major procedural victory. The defense had argued that the requests were an overbroad search for evidence. The court’s partial grant resolved the document-production question, not the truth of the underlying wealth allegations. Records still had to be produced, authenticated, examined and tested against the defense’s explanations.
