Two silver crowns, two North Luzon women, one long night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Gwendoline Meliz Frias Soriano of Baguio City won Binibining Pilipinas International 2026, while Sasha-Juli Belle Penuliar Lacuna of Tarlac Province was named Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2026 at the pageant’s 62nd Grand Coronation Night on Saturday, 18 July.
Julianne Raine Amigo Antonio of Dumaguete City finished as first runner-up. Tracy Mae C. Sunio of Bacolod City was second runner-up. Together, the four women formed a final court that brought North Luzon and the Negros Island Region to the center of the stage.

Soriano’s night kept building
Soriano did not arrive at the final announcement with only one strong moment. She collected Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown, along with Miss Urban Smile and Miss Philippine Airlines, before taking the International crown.
In the last question round, the Top 4 were asked what future they imagined for themselves and how a Binibining Pilipinas title could help them reach it. Soriano said she hoped to become an aspirational leader and use the platform to give people hope. Her answer placed faith, service, and a “big heart” ahead of the usual language of personal achievement.
The International title places her in line to represent the Philippines at Miss International 2027. She succeeds Katrina Anne Johnson, who is expected to compete at Miss International later this year.
Lacuna brings the Globe crown to Tarlac
Lacuna emerged from the same final four to win the Globe title. She was crowned by Annabelle McDonnell, the outgoing Binibining Pilipinas Globe. Her win gives Tarlac a national queen and completes a rare two-crown result for North Luzon.
The official Binibining Pilipinas roster lists Lacuna as Candidate 13 and Soriano as Candidate 12. Thirty-six women were introduced for the 2026 edition, each carrying a place name into a competition that continues to mix national glamour with deeply local pride.
The best coronation moments happen when the crown confirms what the audience has already felt: composure, clarity, and a woman who knows why she is there.
A new final test
Philstar reported that this was the first time in Binibining Pilipinas history that a Top 4 faced an additional common-question round. The change gave judges a cleaner comparison because the finalists had to answer the same prompt under the same pressure.
That matters. Pageants will always be visual, but the final microphone reveals something styling cannot. A candidate has only a short time to turn experience into a thought the room can understand. The answer does not need to sound rehearsed or grand. It needs to feel owned.
The program was hosted by four former queens: Miriam Quiambao, MJ Lastimosa, Nicole Cordoves, and Catriona Gray. The event was also streamed through the official Binibining Pilipinas channel, extending the coronation beyond the Coliseum.

I love the sparkle. I stay for the moment a woman is asked what she plans to do with the attention.
A crown is beautiful, but the better question is whether it widens a woman’s voice. Gwendoline’s answer about hope and leadership worked because it was not only about becoming more visible. It was about becoming useful.
I also appreciate the common-question round. Equal pressure can reveal presence more fairly than a collection of unrelated prompts. The women still bring different histories and personalities, but the audience can listen to how each one thinks.
Congratulations to Gwendoline, Sasha-Juli, Julianne, and Tracy. May the titles open doors without asking any of them to become less real. Elegance is loveliest when it leaves room for intelligence, humor, conviction, and a life larger than the sash.
